I took my seven-year-old out for dinner tonight. We had a rare spell of mother and daughter time so for an after-cinema treat we dined together. Nothing fancy, but the company was first class.
We chatted, we laughed, we hugged, we sang, we coloured, we made faces, we stuffed our faces, we people-watched, we just gave each other all of our attention, every last bit of it.
And when we came home it was disco time. We went crazy! Music loud, energy levels high and full-on wild abandon. For those precious hours, no-one else existed.
Saturday nights have changed a lot with motherhood and this was one to fill both our hearts to the brim.
'Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.'
